About The Position

The University of Iowa Health Care department of Anesthesia is seeking an Academic Clinical Program Management Associate to function as the Anesthesia Resident Coordinator. This role provides administrative services and support for the daily operations of the Resident Education Programs and other education activities of the Department of Anesthesia. The Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine is a highly ranked medical school where students learn to become accomplished clinicians and top-flight researchers and educators. Students come to Iowa to study medicine in a program that uses case-based learning as the basis of their education. With its emphasis on problem-solving skills, early exposure to patients, and enhanced community-based experiences, UI medical students typically earn impressive scores on Step 1 of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination and successfully “match” with top-quality residency programs around the country.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to manage small and large group interaction is required.
  • Demonstrate careful attention to detail with great accuracy together with strong organizational skills.
  • The ability to handle multiple projects, proactively establish priorities, and meet varying deadlines.
  • Must be proficient in computer software applications (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

Nice To Haves

  • 6 months to 1 year experience coordinating or managing a graduate medical education (residency or fellowship) program.
  • Knowledge of University policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Knowledge of ACGME requirements and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily administrative activities related to the resident program, including but not limited to, entering conference attendance, posting didactic lectures, and meetings, initiating program evaluations, and running compliance reports.
  • Set up resident interviews, create itineraries, coordinate travel arrangements, and facilitate interview days.
  • Coordinate the resident didactic lecture series, journal club, and case conferences.
  • Ensures the program director is apprised of important deadlines and other information related about the program.
  • Manage Resident program correspondence, reports, and files.
