About The Position
Telemundo Charlotte, part of the WSOC newsroom, is seeking an enterprising and energetic Anchor/Reporter to help grow the market’s only Spanish-language TV newscast. The position calls for a newsroom leader who can confidently anchor newscasts, respond to breaking news, and produce impactful stories for Noticias Charlotte. The journalist will also produce and share content for Noticias Charlotte on digital and social media. The Anchor/Reporter assists with writing, pre-production, and broadcast preparation; researches, writes, and updates stories; and uses independent professional judgment in investigating, reporting, interviewing, writing, editing, and delivering news. The role works closely with the Managing Editor on rundown decisions and live opportunities, collaborates with the news team to create compelling segments and maintain high production standards, develops graphics for the Design Department, and oversees presentation and format changes in the Control Room during broadcasts.
Requirements
- Bilingual, with excellent Spanish-writing skills.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- 2–3 years of experience as a Reporter.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or another discipline preferred.
- Anchoring experience strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assist with writing, pre-production, and broadcast preparation, ensuring stories are clear, accurate, and aligned with station benchmark goals.
- Deliver news copy on camera with confidence.
- Investigate, report, interview, write, edit, and deliver news stories and assigned events using creativity, imagination, and independent professional judgment.
- Research, write, and update news stories.
- Create relevant, important, and memorable newscasts.
- Develop graphics for production by the Design Department.
- Work with the Managing Editor on daily rundown decisions and live opportunities.
- Collaborate with the news team to create compelling news segments and maintain high production standards.
- Work in the Control Room during broadcasts to oversee presentation and format changes.
- Produce and share Noticias Charlotte content on digital and social media.
- Anchor newscasts and react to breaking news.
