About The Position

Hive Financial Systems is a fintech company expanding financial inclusion through AI-driven lending technology. Its multi-portfolio loan management platform supports lending partners serving tens of thousands of active consumers. The Analytics Intern joins the Data & Analytics team for the summer and works with lending data—including applications, approvals, payments, and delinquency—to answer business questions, build reporting, and support decisions. The intern partners with Engineering, QA, Product, and Operations and completes projects to present at the end of the summer. The internship runs from May 17, 2027, through July 30, 2027, in Atlanta, Georgia (Buckhead). The role uses SQL, Microsoft Fabric and Azure data platforms, Hex, Python, Git/Azure DevOps, Jira, Confluence, and AI assistants for analysis and documentation. Applicants must also submit a 60–90 second video describing a time they used data to investigate a question and something they are curious to learn about consumer lending or fintech.

Requirements

  • Be a junior, senior, or master's student in Information Systems, Data Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science, Finance, or a related field.
  • Have working knowledge of SQL, including SELECT, JOIN, WHERE, and GROUP BY.
  • Have some exposure to Python or R for data analysis.
  • Be familiar with relational database concepts.
  • Have strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Communicate clearly in writing and verbally, including explaining numbers to non-technical audiences.
  • Be able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Submit a 60–90 second video describing a time you used data to figure something out, including the question, what you examined, and what you learned, and one thing about consumer lending or fintech you are curious to learn this summer.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of SQL window functions or CTEs.
  • Experience with a BI tool such as Hex, Power BI, Tableau, or similar.
  • Interest in fintech, consumer lending, or credit risk.
  • Exposure to cloud data platforms such as Azure, Fabric, Snowflake, or Databricks.
  • Basic statistics knowledge, including distributions, hypothesis testing, and A/B testing.

Responsibilities

  • Write and run SQL queries against Azure SQL / SQL Server and the Microsoft Fabric lakehouse to answer business questions, investigate issues, and build reports.
  • Build and maintain Hex dashboards for metrics such as the application-to-funded funnel, payment success rates, and delinquency trends.
  • Use Python, including pandas and Jupyter/Hex notebooks, to clean, explore, and summarize data, and present findings to stakeholders in plain language.
  • Learn and apply lending metrics such as vintages and cohorts, days-past-due buckets, roll rates, and first-payment default.
  • Help measure borrower communication and marketing campaigns, track results, and support A/B test analysis.
  • Gather requirements from business stakeholders and translate them into clear specifications and acceptance criteria for the development team.
  • Support data quality by flagging anomalies, documenting data definitions in the data catalog, and helping validate pipeline outputs.
  • Assist with vendor data and reporting relationships.
  • Present a portfolio-ready project to company leadership at the end of the summer.

Benefits

  • Hands-on experience with an enterprise lending data platform and real business problems.
  • Practical skills in SQL, Python, BI, and business analysis.
  • Mentorship from experienced engineering and analytics professionals.
  • A portfolio-ready project presented to company leadership at the end of the summer.
