About The Position

The SAR Image Quality Analyst works as part of the RADAR Production team ensuring that the Synthetic Aperture RADAR (SAR) products meet mission requirements. We are on the hunt for an Image Quality Analyst on our Radar Production team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or post-graduate degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or other relevant disciplines.
  • At least 2 years of experience working in a SAR Systems Engineering or Analyst capacity.
  • Experience With Matlab
  • MS Excel, for the purpose of engineering analyses
  • Satellite remote sensing or earth observation
  • SAR imaging theory and principles
  • Experience in scripting and/or programming
  • Successful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance at the SECRET status level, pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP).

Responsibilities

  • Work with mission and satellite operations team to support ongoing SAR System Calibration for operational missions such as RADARSAT-2, CHORUS and RCM.
  • Define and implement system calibration updates to optimize performance.
  • Investigate, track and devise solutions for SAR system performance issues.
  • Work with the satellite operations team to improve SAR IQ monitoring capability including the adoption of automated SAR IQ methods and tools.
  • Perform operational analysis and trade-off studies.
  • Work with satellite operations and mission teams to specify requirements for SAR system performance monitoring.
  • Support continuous maintenance of calibration plans for operational SAR systems including SAR IQ / Calibration acquisition campaigns and ground target (e.g. corner reflector) maintenance.
  • Work with satellite operations and mission teams to support development of new SAR systems and updating / improving modes on current systems.
  • Developing and enhancing software tools used in SAR system performance analysis.
  • Maintaining links with the national and international technical community for communications on SAR system performance.
