About The Position

Under the leadership of the Director of Finance and Administration, the Financial and Accounting Analyst plays a key role in managing accounting and financial activities, as well as in the production, analysis, and accuracy of financial data supporting the operations of Tarquti and its affiliated companies. At the intersection of accounting and finance, this person contributes to strategic decision-making by maintaining rigorous oversight of financial performance. Its expertise and precision ensure the accuracy of financial data, budgeting, cash flow management, and budgetary processes. The incumbent will also support project managers in tracking and properly accounting for revenues and costs for each project.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. Equivalent experience may compensate for the undergraduate degree requirement.
  • Hold a CPA designation or be in the process of obtaining one (a strong asset).
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience, ideally in an accounting firm.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 or another mid- to large-scale ERP system (SAP, Oracle, Sage X3, etc.).
  • Good knowledge of GST/QST remittances and tax compliance.
  • Good understanding of accountability mechanisms related to grants and complex financial logic.
  • Strong planning, organizational, and budgeting skills.
  • Analytical mindset, rigor, and precision.
  • Strong organizational skills, autonomy, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and demonstrate versatility.
  • Strong communication skills, with an ability to build and maintain good relationships and foster collaboration.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, with excellent command of Excel and financial modeling tools (pivot tables, reconciliations).
  • Fluency in both French and English, spoken and written, is essential for effectively interacting with all stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Inuktitut would be considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Complete accounting cycle, including journal entries, reconciliations, amortizations, and period-end closings.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and contribute to the production of annual reports and audits.
  • Monitor expenditure allocations according to funding sources and divisions
  • Support intercompany transactions, capital project tracking (work in progress), and asset capitalization.
  • Assist with budget preparation, cash flow forecasting, and management reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with eligibility ceilings, reclassifications, and reporting standards.
  • Prepare structured internal and external reports in accordance with grant and audit requirements.
