Analyst

Thomson Reuters•McLean, VA
•$66,900 - $124,300•Onsite

About The Position

As an Analyst at Thomson Reuters Special Services (TRSS), you will perform a range of research and analytical work, including due diligence assessments and threat management reports. You will use publicly available information and proprietary data to develop relevant, insightful products that support the national security community, the U.S. military, law enforcement, and the private sector. This role requires full-time, onsite work in New York City; remote and hybrid work are not options for this position. The Analyst provides onsite client support and delivers research, analysis, and guidance using public records, proprietary data, social media, and other open-source data. The role also involves developing expertise in TRSS data and technology solutions, communicating actionable insights through varied media, collaborating with clients and colleagues, taking ownership of increasingly complex work, and contributing to analytic development, mentorship, and training. Employment is contingent on clearing a customer-specific background investigation. Because the role provides access to highly sensitive public-record information, periodic background checks apply. U.S. citizenship is essential, and the candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. national security clearance.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of work experience relating to research and analysis.
  • At least 2 years of experience using public records, open-source information, and/or social media to support research and analysis.
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Strong reading and formal writing skills, including demonstrated ability in composition and source evaluation.
  • Strong critical-thinking skills and attention to detail.
  • High proficiency with open-source and research database tools, including incorporating multiple data streams into a single deliverable.
  • Ability to engage professionally and collegially with project teams and clients and respond quickly to requests.
  • U.S. citizenship, essential to comply with government contract or Federal Government agency or department requirements.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. national security clearance.
  • Ability to clear a customer-specific background investigation; periodic background checks apply to employees in positions at this level.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree.
  • Background in risk assessments, financial risk reviews, and/or Know Your Customer (KYC) reviews.
  • Familiarity with corporate structures, private equity deals, and/or venture capital deals.

Responsibilities

  • Provide onsite client support, including responding to inquiries, preparing ad hoc reports, conducting miscellaneous research, and advising on analytic methods.
  • Provide researched analysis and guidance based on rigorous examination of public records, proprietary data, social media data, and other open-source data.
  • Develop expertise in current research and analytic methodologies and in TRSS proprietary data and technology solutions.
  • Communicate actionable insights using a variety of media, including data visualization technologies and data processing methods.
  • Collaborate with client managers and TRSS analysts in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Take personal accountability and ownership of work, accomplishing progressively more complex tasks, projects, and collaborations.
