About The Position

This role combines payroll administration with benefits management, acting as the strategic contributor to paychecks and employee benefits. The analyst oversees the entire employee cycle — from wage calculation to benefits enrollment — while analyzing data, recommending policy improvements, and ensuring system efficiency. The role is responsible for strategic oversight, accuracy, and compliance of country and state/province specific laws and company policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; Human Resources, or other related/analytical discipline.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of Canada payroll experience and 2+ years of benefits experience required.
  • Analytical mindset, HR/finance knowledge, advanced Excel, HRIS/payroll system proficiency (Workday required)

Responsibilities

  • Process employee wages, including complex calculations (commissions, overtime, bonuses, short term disability payments)
  • Manage tax withholdings, deductions and garnishments and audit payroll process for accuracy and compliance
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and prepare reports (e.g., year- end tax forms)
  • Administer and optimize employee welfare programs (health, retirement, welfare) for both the US and Canada
  • Respond to employee payroll and benefits inquiries to resolution and escalate issues as needed
  • Partner with US and Canadian vendors to administer benefits and payroll
  • Ensure compliance with country and state/province specific regulations for payroll and benefits
  • Process benefit and vendor invoices for payment
  • Analyze payroll and benefits data to identify trends, cost savings, and policy improvements
  • Recommend process changes and system enhancements including taking the lead to implement Workday for Canadian payroll
