About The Position

Barber Ford is a family-owned dealership in Holland, MI, known for its quality, integrity, and customer care. They are seeking a dependable Payroll & Benefits Specialist to manage payroll and employee benefits, provide HR support, and assist with administrative and basic accounting tasks. This role requires someone highly organized, accurate, and comfortable handling confidential information in a professional and supportive workplace.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience working with payroll, benefits, HR, accounting, or a related field
  • Experience with ADP, Paychex, or similar payroll platforms
  • Working knowledge of payroll practices and applicable employment regulations
  • Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable working with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook
  • Strong judgment and discretion when handling confidential information
  • Dependable, professional, and committed to accuracy
  • Ability to commute to Holland, MI (Required)

Nice To Haves

  • Previous automotive dealership experience is preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Process weekly payroll accurately, including hourly wages, commissions, and employee time records
  • Review payroll information for accuracy and resolve discrepancies as needed
  • Administer employee benefits and assist with enrollment and qualifying life events
  • Maintain benefit records and required documentation
  • Help ensure payroll and benefits practices comply with applicable federal and state requirements
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and assist with audits, reporting, and employment verifications
  • Work with the Controller and management team on payroll reporting and related expenses
  • Assist with employee onboarding, departures, and maintaining personnel records
  • Serve as a resource for employees with payroll, benefits, and general HR questions
  • Help maintain employee policies, handbooks, and related documentation
  • Support recruiting activities, including posting open positions, reviewing applicants, and coordinating interviews
  • Assist with employee relations matters and other HR projects as needed
  • Prepare employee reports, records, and other HR-related documentation
  • Provide departments and management with payroll and employee information as needed
  • Handle sensitive employee and financial information with a high level of discretion
  • Assist with general office and accounting-related duties when needed
  • Take on additional administrative responsibilities to support dealership operations
