About The Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented, analytical, and music-passionate Analyst to join our centralized finance team supporting the Sony Music US Front Line Label Group, which includes Columbia Records, RCA Records, Epic Records, Arista Records, Sony Music Nashville, Provident Entertainment, and Ultra Records. Reporting to the Associate Director of Marketing Financial Planning, this position will support the planning, tracking, and analysis of marketing expenses across artist campaigns for assigned labels. The Analyst will work closely with finance, marketing, and media teams to help maintain accurate budgets, process purchase orders, reconcile expenses, and provide visibility into campaign spending. The ideal candidate is organized, curious, comfortable working with financial data, and able to manage multiple priorities in a collaborative environment.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Up to two years of experience in accounting, financial planning and analysis, corporate finance, or a related area.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and are comfortable learning new systems and applications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with close attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally and are comfortable working with colleagues across different teams and levels.
  • Organized, able to manage multiple assignments, and comfortable adjusting to changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Collaborative, curious, and willing to ask questions and learn.
  • Take ownership of your work, follow through on commitments, and raise issues when additional guidance is needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Internship or entry-level experience in music, entertainment, or media is a plus.
  • Experience with SAP, Power BI, Tableau, or other financial reporting tools is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with maintaining artist marketing budgets that support release strategies and commercial plans.
  • Update marketing budgets in the company’s planning system and help ensure information remains accurate as campaign plans change.
  • Support the monthly forecast process by gathering campaign updates and entering revised spending assumptions.
  • Coordinate with label teams to create and submit marketing-related purchase orders in line with approved campaign budgets and internal requirements.
  • Work with Accounts Payable and label partners to research discrepancies and support timely vendor payments.
  • Complete monthly and quarterly reconciliations of marketing expenses.
  • Support the preparation of accruals and journal entries.
  • Review spending activity, identify potential variances, and share findings with the manager.
  • Assist with reviewing marketing recoupment calculations and tracking third-party sponsorships, invoices, and payments.
  • Maintain marketing expense reports and dashboards that provide visibility into actual spending and remaining budgets by artist, project, and campaign.
  • Assist with tracking contractual marketing commitments across artists, projects, spending categories, and release phases.
  • Work with marketing, media, promotion, and finance teams across assigned labels to gather information and resolve questions.
  • Participate in marketing financial planning meetings and provide updates on budgets, spending, and purchase orders.
  • Help ensure marketing expenses are supported by the appropriate documentation and follow company finance policies, approval requirements, and established controls.
  • Assist with audit requests and support updates to budgeting, reporting, and purchase order processes.
  • Assist with campaign analyses, vendor comparisons, label-wide marketing expense reviews, and other projects as assigned.
