About The Position

As a key member of the IT team, the IT Application Analyst coordinates the analysis and development process within Summit Health through analysis, design, build, testing and implementation of technical and workflow-based solutions for new and existing electronic health record projects and initiatives. This senior level Epic Analyst facilitates end-user meetings and provides an advance level of operational and application build expertise in completing the more sophisticated assignments. The EHR Application Analyst will provide ongoing support and service requests to ensure implemented solutions meet architectural and operational requirements and performance expectations. Leads cross-departmental teams in delivery and improvement of in-house software applications is demonstrated and practiced in this role. This role supports application needs and complex projects through testing, implementation, and training expertise for assigned applications while assisting and training end-users in the implementation of application workflows and standards. A person in this position will be required to work with and across teams of analysts to provide advanced level support for their customers. Performs advanced system configuration changes and maintenance to support the lifecycle of the application. Recommends design enhancements and changes for complex systems. Required to mentor other staff and lead teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution or a High School diploma (equivalent) with four (4) years of applicable experience in a clinical setting
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in an EHR Application Analyst role
  • Certification in two or more Epic applications and/or a combination of Epic certification with applicable clinical licensure or certification
  • Developed understanding of the user community of applications and workflows in the assigned application area
  • Ability to lead and facilitate meetings, prioritize and resolve conflicts, maintain issue lists, and manage complex project plans
  • Demonstrate analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Additional Experience specifically related to the job role may be preferred or required

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day support for EHR application and ancillary systems through analysis, build, testing, training, configuration, implementation and support activities at Summit Health and community partners
  • Performs in-depth analysis of workflows, data collection, reports details and other technical issues associated with the Epic EHR
  • Receive and act upon tickets by identifying the root cause of issues and collaborating with application analysts to resolve issues following established change control processes
  • Mentors EHR Applications Analysts in the development of applications and project management knowledge
  • Manage increasingly complex, cross functional individual and team projects or work streams within the defined scope of overall project
  • Defines and frames complex issues and develops plan/processes for decision making.
  • Design, build, and implement workflows to meet operational and quality goals
  • Understand and effectively use data to help drive operational decisions and successfully implement changes
  • Achieve in-depth knowledge of respective Epic and ancillary applications, while staying current with new application functionality and enhancements
  • Facilitates the ongoing learning, well-being, professional satisfaction and development of supported teams through training, mentoring in use of tools and advice
  • Identify and escalate issues/problems/delays that may adversely impact projects
  • Work closely with management and physician leadership to help drive EHR optimization decisions and implementation strategy
  • Prepare and maintain documentation, including analysis, design, standards, procedures, and user guides
  • Independently manage your work to complete tasks based in clearly defined project milestones and deadlines
  • Analyze new functionality in releases to determine impact on existing practice
  • Conduct regular meetings with clinic staff to determine future system enhancements
  • Proactively seek resolution to existing problems
  • Promote adoption of technology solutions within the department
  • Troubleshoot problems and questions from end users
  • Utilize knowledge of the application and workflows to develop and deliver training to new and existing staff
  • Other duties as assigned
