About The Position

The Accounting Analyst II will provide accounting and finance support for Global Business Services initiatives, Corporate Finance/Accounting teams, WM India Finance, Treasury, Tax, Controllers, and Area Finance/Accounting teams. This position reports to the Finance Enablement and Business Optimization Manager and will support both recurring accounting activities and process optimization assignments across multiple Finance functions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (accredited)
  • High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and four years or relevant work experience
  • 3 years of relevant work experience (in addition to education requirement)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in corporate accounting, shared services, finance transformation, process improvement, or business analysis.
  • Experience working with Oracle ERP, BlackLine, Power BI, or similar finance systems and reporting tools.
  • Experience preparing SOPs, process maps, training materials, or transition documentation.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to coordinate across domestic and international teams.

Responsibilities

  • Executes moderately complex financial and accounting tasks in a timely and accurate manner; completes assigned analytical and process improvement projects with general direction from the GBS Finance Manager.
  • Performs month-end close activities for assigned areas of responsibility, including preparation and review of journal entries ranging from low to high complexity.
  • Supports recurring accounting activities related to payroll, incentive compensation, vacation accruals, benefit-related accruals, intercompany activity, accrual accounting, depreciation, amortization, reclasses, correcting entries, and other assigned transactions.
  • Analyzes general ledger accounts for accuracy; prepares monthly and quarterly account reconciliations, investigates reconciling items, documents conclusions, and escalates items requiring resolution.
  • Analyzes monthly financial results, identifies trends and variances, and communicates meaningful insights to Finance, Accounting, and business stakeholders.
  • Collects and analyzes financial data and prepares monthly financial statements, schedules, reports, and management packages; coordinates review of monthly financial packages for accuracy and completeness.
  • Participates in monthly financial review meetings and supports Budget versus Actual reviews, including follow-up on questions, variances, and accounting corrections.
  • Assists with evaluating, documenting, and concluding on accounting impacts of process changes, centralization activities, or assigned transactions.
  • Provides guidance to Finance personnel and GBS partners regarding proper internal and external financial accounting procedures and their application.
  • Supports knowledge transfer and post-transition stabilization with WM India Finance and other shared services teams, including documentation, training materials, and issue resolution.
  • Assists with maintenance and application of internal controls; executes internal control responsibilities timely and accurately and supports audit, SOX, tax, and external reporting requests as assigned.
  • Identifies opportunities to reduce manual effort, strengthen controls, standardize accounting processes, and improve visibility across assigned Finance activities.
