About The Position

National Grid is hiring an Analyst for their Syracuse, NY office. This is a hybrid role requiring two days per week in the office (Wednesday and Thursday). The company delivers safe and secure energy and aims to shape the sustainable future of the industry by anticipating customer needs, reducing energy delivery costs, and pioneering flexible energy systems. This role is responsible for the complex invoice process, meeting performance metrics, prioritizing work to meet expectations, and delivering results aligned with customer and business objectives. Key contacts include internal stakeholders such as job owners, managers, and other members of Centralized Services, with potential for direct external customer interactions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related area preferred and/or a minimum of 2-3 years of progressive growth in business support roles.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office suite and other technical skills required including Excel VLOOKUP and Pivot Tables.
  • Strong analytical skills including the ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing to both internal and external customers.
  • Familiarity with electric and gas utility accounting and finance requirements; knowledge of relevant industry practice and legislation, including developments in regulation.
  • Ability to work without a need for current or future visa sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of SAP-GUI and HANA-BI preferred.
  • Experience in utility service billing, business activities and systems (SAP, CSS, CRS) preferred.
  • Basic understanding of Relational Database Management Systems and related data management concepts preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Execute complex billing instructions and requests accurately, timely and efficiently.
  • Track and meet performance goals.
  • Provide guidance and direction to lower-level analysts to improve billing accuracy and assist in decision making.
  • Be responsible for applicable Sarbanes Oxley and operational controls within assigned bill type.
  • Identify, address and resolve complex billing issues.
  • Analyze themes and trends from a range of sources and systems to identify opportunities to integrate improvements across billing to minimize future billing issues.
  • Develop a working understanding of applicable regulations (e.g., tariffs) to assist internal customers in delivering services.
  • Develop relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to obtain and share information that will benefit National Grid.
  • Challenge existing ways of working and continuously seek ways to do things better to drive greater efficiencies within the assigned area.
