Analog IC Design Engineer

Apple•Cupertino, CA

About The Position

At Apple, the Analog IC Design Engineer will work as part of a dynamic group crafting upcoming products. The role involves developing and validating analog portions of integrated circuits, from architectural modeling and transistor-level feasibility through block design, layout implementation, top-level integration, and lab validation. The engineer will also support production testing, analyze yield and lab results to drive bug fixes, and design for ESD compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.

Nice To Haves

  • Deep knowledge of ADC/DAC architectures and selecting architectures suitable for given applications.
  • Deep knowledge of band-gaps, bias, op-amps, switched-capacitor circuits, LDOs, feedback, and compensation techniques.
  • Significant knowledge of low-noise design techniques.
  • Significant knowledge of high-precision techniques in the presence of device mismatch.
  • Experience in C, Matlab, or Verilog modeling.
  • Strong device physics knowledge as it applies to analog IC designs.
  • Proven working experience using spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, signal generators, and similar equipment to validate analog designs.
  • Extensive experience working with production test engineers to firm up test plans and design-for-testability details.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in specifications for analog portions of ICs.
  • Develop behavioral models to validate architectures.
  • Conduct transistor-level feasibility studies for various ADC/DAC blocks.
  • Design blocks and document designs for formal design reviews.
  • Drive mask design to implement the layout view of designs.
  • Run top-level simulations to validate top-level integration.
  • Define production- and bench-level test plans.
  • Take lab measurements to validate analog designs.
  • Drive and review yield and lab test results to identify and resolve bugs.
  • Design for ESD compliance.
