About The Position

Provides advanced technical expertise in the depot‑level repair, testing, and certification of the AN/SPS‑48 3D air‑search radars. This position supports U.S. Navy Fleet Readiness Centers, In‑Service Engineering Agents (ISEAs), and depot maintenance activities to ensure radar systems meet operational, reliability, and performance standards. The technician performs complex diagnostics, component‑level repairs, system integration, and functional testing in accordance with Navy technical documentation, engineering directives, and quality assurance requirements.

Requirements

  • Secret security clearance
  • Associate’s degree in Technical Field / Technical Certification or AN/SPS-48 Navy NEC
  • Experience managing funding, reporting on financial status and projecting resource requirements

Responsibilities

  • Perform depot‑level troubleshooting and repair of AN/SPS‑48 radar assemblies, subassemblies, and circuit‑card modules, including RF, analog, digital, servo, and power‑distribution components.
  • Execute precision diagnostics using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, network analyzers, and automated test equipment (ATE).
  • Conduct full system alignment, calibration, and performance verification in accordance with Navy technical manuals (e.g., NAVAIR, NAVSEA, and SPAWAR documentation).
  • Interpret engineering change orders (ECOs), technical directives, and modification instructions to implement system upgrades and configuration changes.
  • Support teardown, refurbishment, and rebuild of radar components including transmitters, receivers, signal processors, antenna/drive systems, and cooling systems.
  • Perform failure analysis and root‑cause investigations on returned components to support reliability improvements and engineering feedback loops.
  • Document all maintenance actions in Navy logistics and maintenance systems (e.g., NALCOMIS, R-Supply, or equivalent).
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to resolve complex technical issues and validate corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with depot‑level quality standards, including ISO, NAVSEA, and DoD maintenance protocols.
  • Support test‑stand operation and maintenance, including setup, calibration, and safety checks.
  • Provide technical input for process improvements, test procedures, and repair methodologies.
  • Maintain strict adherence to ESD, RF safety, and high‑voltage safety protocols during all maintenance activities.
