The Alma Mater Society (AMS) is the University of British Columbia’s (UBC) student society, and works to improve the academic, social and personal lives of the 56,000 UBC students at its Vancouver campus. The AMS also runs nine food and beverage outlets, a catering and conference operation, and the AMS Student Nest, providing on-campus employment opportunities and generating revenue that goes directly back into supporting the students at UBC. Under the direction of the Assistant Services Manager, Tutoring Coordinator, Senior AMS Tutors uphold the mandate of AMS Tutoring by supervising group tutoring sessions and supporting students' academic success. Senior AMS Tutors work alongside Group Tutors in cooperation with AMS Tutoring and its partners, including the Chapman Learning Commons, Beyond Tomorrow Scholars Program (BTSP), World University Service of Canada (WUSC), and Undergraduate Societies. AMS Tutors are also hired to conduct 1-on-1 appointment tutoring with students through the Nimbus tutoring app. Senior AMS Tutors report directly to Assistant Tutoring Coordinator and Tutoring Coordinator.
