About The Position

The AMI Subject Matter Expert (SME) will lead the end-to-end deployment of selected AMI data driven use cases, from initial requirements definition and solution design through implementation, testing, and client acceptance. The role requires strong client facing capabilities, deep AMI domain expertise, and the ability to coordinate closely with subcontracting partners providing the underlying software solutions.

Requirements

  • 10+ Years of Strong hands-on experience with Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) and AMI data platforms.
  • Solid understanding of AMI use cases such as theft detection, outage identification, load analysis, etc.
  • Familiarity with AMI ecosystems, including smart meters, head end systems (HES), MDMS, and integrations with enterprise utility systems.
  • Strong documentation skills, with experience producing requirements, design, and testing artifacts.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Prior experience delivering AMI or smart grid programs for utilities.
  • Exposure to large scale utility transformation programs or data driven initiatives.
  • Understanding of utility regulatory and compliance considerations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed requirements documentation, including use case definitions, data requirements, and integration needs.
  • Lead the preparation of solution design and architecture documents in collaboration with internal teams and subcontracting partners.
  • Ensure alignment of proposed solutions with existing AMI architecture, utility systems (MDMS, CIS, OMS, NMS), and data governance standards.
  • Own the deployment approach for assigned AMI use cases, including implementation strategy, milestones, and dependencies.
  • Work closely with subcontracting partners to review configurations, customizations, and technical deliverables.
  • Develop and maintain deployment plans, cutover strategies, and rollout schedules.
  • Define and lead the testing strategy, including system testing, integration testing, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
  • Review and validate test cases and results provided by subcontracting partners.
  • Support client testing cycles and ensure issues are tracked, resolved, and documented.
