About The Position

GoodwillSR AmeriCorps members will assist in a behind-the-scenes capacity-building role. This position involves researching workforce needs, organizing existing learning assets, creating standardized curriculum tools, building a centralized SharePoint resource library, and developing evaluation and sustainability systems. The role does not involve routine instruction, client assistance, or operational coverage. The AmeriCorps Vista Curriculum Development role is with Goodwill Industries of The Southern Rivers in Columbus, GA.

Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years old and meet AmeriCorps citizenship or lawful permanent resident requirements.
  • Successfully complete all required AmeriCorps screening and National Service Criminal History Check requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Assess current curricula, lesson plans, facilitator guides, participant materials, presentations, videos, and digital resources.
  • Research regional workforce trends, industry-recognized certification requirements, employer priorities, adult-learning practices, and accessibility standards.
  • Develop standardized templates for curricula, lesson plans, facilitator guides, workbooks, presentations, assessments, job aids, and evaluation tools.
  • Document curriculum development, review, approval, revision, publication, and version-control workflows using Scribe or another approved platform.
  • Design and organize a centralized SharePoint curriculum library with clear naming, metadata, access, archiving, and update procedures.
  • Create or revise approved workforce-learning resources, including presentations, job aids, infographics, instructional videos, and digital learning tools.
  • Commit to the full-time, year-long service term and complete required VISTA training and reporting.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to addressing poverty and expanding economic opportunity.
  • Increase community awareness of the programs that GoodwillSR offers and support Mission services activities.
  • Implement several outreach service methods, including phone calls, emails, text messaging, social media campaigns, geo-marketing/geo-tracking, and special events.
  • Re-engage clients who have not visited the center for 31 days or more.
  • Invite clients to job fairs and special events.
  • Inform clients about services such as classes, free tax prep, Veterans Services, and certification training.
  • Promote virtual services and opportunities offered by GoodwillSR to the rural population.
