About The Position

We are currently seeking US-based American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreters to provide professional interpretation services between ASL and spoken English. The interpreter will work with Deaf, DeafBlind, hard-of-hearing, and oral individuals across a variety of settings, helping ensure clear, accurate, and effective communication.

Requirements

Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English
Strong understanding of Deaf culture and the experiences and communication needs of Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Strong written English skills
Proficiency with computers, email, internet, electronic scheduling, and basic office applications
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to accurately convey concepts and meaning without omissions, additions, or personal interpretation
Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times
90% English proficiency
Windows 10+ or Mac
Computer or laptop
Reliable wired internet connection
Minimum 20 Mbps download / 10 Mbps upload
Webcam
USB wired headset
Appropriate background for video interpretation — use a solid, contrasting color such as royal blue, charcoal, or bright green

Nice To Haves

Minimum 1 year of interpreting experience preferred
RID/CDI certification preferred

Responsibilities

Provide accurate and effective interpretation between ASL and spoken English
Follow applicable national, state, and local licensing or certification requirements
Adhere to the NAD-RID Code of Professional Conduct
Complete required documentation, assignments, and administrative tasks accurately and on time
Adapt quickly to new technologies, systems, and processes
Work effectively in a fast-paced and regulated environment
Communicate regularly with your Team Leader and follow operational guidelines
Perform additional duties as assigned
