Student Employment: Church Street School America Reads Tutor - 26/27
About The Position
This is a student employment opportunity at Church Street School, specifically for the America Reads Tutor role for the 26/27 academic year. The position is within the Office of Community Engagement and is a Federal Work-Study position. Tutors will work with children in grades K-5, providing one-on-one or small group support in reading and other academic areas. They will also assist teachers in the classroom with students needing extra attention, and occasionally help with administrative or creative tasks. Training in tutoring techniques will be provided and is mandatory for all participants.
Requirements
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook
- Applicants must be self-motivated, willing to take initiative, show interest in their work
- Punctuality and responsibility are musts to work effectively in this position
- Must have at least 4 hours per week available within M-F 8:30-3:30 timeframe to work at this location

- Previous experience working with K-6 grade students
Responsibilities
- Tutor children, grades K-5, in reading skills and other academic areas
- Work with children one-on-one or in small groups
