Join our team as the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Director where you will lead our Advanced Engineering team. The Brooklyn Center facility positively impacts 14 million patients each year. As Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME) Director, you will lead the evolution of our manufacturing and process development capabilities by integrating advanced technologies, robust process design, and scalable production strategies. Requirements

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering, Science or technical field and minimum of 10 years of relevant experience with 7+ years of managerial experience, or advanced degree in Engineering, Science or technical field with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience with 7+ years of managerial experience.
  • For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.
  • U.S. work authorization sponsorship (H-1B, TN, J, etc.) is offered exclusively for Principal-level roles and above, where specialized expertise aligns with long-term business needs. Roles below the Principal level require candidates to possess unrestricted U.S. work authorization at the time of hire and for the duration of employment.

  • Experience in Medical Device with automation and joining experience.
  • Demonstrated experience managing large, complex transformation initiatives with high level of visibility and business criticality.
  • Ability to lead, energize and influence change efforts at all levels of a complex organization.
  • Hands-on experience managing cross-functional projects working across businesses, sites, or regions.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead in an FDA-regulated environment.
  • Experience working within a quality system or regulated industry with subsequent knowledge of appropriate documentation and or quality requirements.
  • Understanding of Qualification protocols – IQ/OQ/PQ.
  • Experience with manufacturing systems such as MES, Blue Yonder, SAP, etc.
  • Experience and accountability driving change resulting in improvement of Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost KPIs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, form, mentor, develop and coach engineering leaders and teams on meeting / exceeding performance expectations.
  • Partner across organizations to develop relationships with internal stakeholders to drive Innovation through New Product Introduction (NPI) and Technology Roadmap – Operating Units, Operations Innovations, and Strategy and Network teams.
  • Participate in establishing project objectives, timelines, milestones, and budgets.
  • Navigate head count allocations between funded projects and burden resourcing.
  • Ensure high expectations for manufacturing performance when a new product launches, including safety, quality risk reduction, yield, cycle time and OEE.
  • Lead or participate in the appropriation of funds for projects through the preparation and approval of capital expenditure requests.
  • Influence across functions and businesses to deliver the results according to plan and budget.
  • Communicate and lead meetings with internal /external suppliers and stakeholders.
  • Interface with Senior Management to communicate/report progress and receive strategic updates impacting projects.
  • Conceive, develop, and propose NPI (aligned to MECCs core competencies; Battery Chemistry, Laser joining/weld, molding and plasma coating) solutions to solve product needs for Medtronic Operating Units.
  • Oversee the investigation and evaluation of new and existing processes and technologies to find opportunities for improvement and develop action plans for execution.
  • Ensure the prioritization of strategic and department level initiatives to include defining performance goals and targets, conducting performance reviews, and staff 1:1s to guide performance management and employee development efforts and manage toward departmental goals.
