About The Position

KF Aerospace is seeking an AME Avionics Apprentice to assist on line and heavy maintenance projects and work in the Avionics shop. This role involves learning about various aircraft systems, retaining information, completing tasks efficiently, and ensuring the quality of one's work. The apprentice will also engage in basic troubleshooting and report any unserviceable conditions discovered. The position requires adherence to safety practices, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment and understanding the company's Risk Management System. Documentation is also a key responsibility, ensuring all paperwork is complete and submitted correctly.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a Transport Canada accredited “Approved Aircraft Maintenance Avionics Program”.
  • Must be able to obtain and retain a Transport Canada Airport Pass.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to work safely with basic hand tools.
  • Able to read technical manuals and drawings.
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
  • Able to work effectively independently and as part of a team.
  • Able to take direction from others.
  • Quick learner.
  • Ability to work 40 hours a week in a rotating shift-work environment.
  • Ability to travel, as required.
  • Must be physically fit.

Responsibilities

  • Assist on line and heavy maintenance projects and in the Avionics shop under the supervision of a Licensed AME.
  • Learn a thorough understanding of aircraft systems including air conditioning, hydraulics, engines, flight controls, landing gear, avionics, electrical generation, oxygen, fuel, and pneumatics.
  • Retain information and apply learnings to similar situations.
  • Complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.
  • Take responsibility for the quality of own work and fix mistakes where required.
  • Engage in basic troubleshooting on assigned tasks.
  • Report to the Crew Chief any unserviceable condition discovered.
  • Accurately identify, obtain, use, and test appropriate tools for assigned tasks.
  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of Standard Wiring Practices and Avionics Systems.
  • Inspect and identify defects.
  • Find and read applicable wiring drawings.
  • Apply safe work practices in all job duties.
  • Wear all appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Understand and apply the company’s Risk Management System.
  • Maintain good housekeeping standards.
  • Understand and apply safe handling practices with the aircraft.
  • Ensure appropriate documentation is complete and submitting to an endorsed AME or Crew Chief for ACA approval.
