About The Position

This is a hybrid role for an Ambulatory Pharmacy Technician II at PAMF-Palo Alto Medical Foundation MPD. The position is eligible for work from home but may require in-person staffing as needed. The ideal candidate will reside within a commutable distance of San Mateo, CA. The role involves understanding medical terminology, pharmaceutical names, calculations, and relevant laws and regulations. It also requires knowledge of different pharmacy practice settings, including narcotic delivery and procedures, and the ability to use pharmaceutical and medical terms correctly. A working knowledge of legal requirements and accreditation standards from various agencies is necessary. The position demands strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent time management and organizational abilities, and proficiency in computer applications like Microsoft Office Suite, EHR, and EPIC.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited Pharmacy Technician program OR Met Board of Pharmacy requirements to obtain registration
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician OR Pharmacy Technician OR Certified Pharmacy Technician OR Pharmacy Intern
  • 1 year of recent relevant experience
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, generic and trade pharmaceutical names, pharmaceutical calculations and laws and regulations.
  • Knowledge and understanding of different Pharmacy practice settings, including narcotic delivery and procedures.
  • Knowledge and ability to identify and employ pharmaceutical and medical terms, abbreviations and symbols commonly used in prescribing, dispensing, and record keeping of medications.
  • Basic working knowledge of legal requirements and accreditation standards including The Joint Commission, Title XXII, Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and United States Pharmacopeia (USP).
  • Written and verbal communications skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences, including non-medical people.
  • Well-developed time management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize assignments and work within standardized operating procedures and scientific methods to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.
  • General knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook), related pharmaceutical technology, EHR, and EPIC.
