About The Position

Orlando Health Physician Associates is seeking an Ambulatory Care Registered Nurse for their Endocrine department in Lake Nona, Orlando. This role is part of Orlando Health Physician Associates, a large primary care provider group in Central Florida, which is a component of the Orlando Health Medical Group. They offer care in family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, and podiatry, serving patients of all ages. As part of the integrated Orlando Health system, they provide access to a wide range of healthcare services across Florida, Alabama, and Puerto Rico. The Ambulatory Care RN will administer patient care in a setting where patients receive treatment and typically return home the same day, or in a post-acute transitional care setting. The specific location is 9679 Lake Nona Village, Suite 101, Orlando, FL 32827. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, with a 30-minute lunch break. Experience in Endocrinology is preferred, and bilingual candidates (English and Spanish) are also preferred. The role primarily involves administrative duties.

Requirements

Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
Meets all mandatory, developmental, and performance competency requirements for Orlando Health and unit/department.
One (1) year of experience required unless approved by director level or above.
Maintains current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Florida or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).
Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.

Nice To Haves

Endocrinology experience preferred
Bilingual candidates (English and Spanish speaking) preferred
ACLS, NRP, PALS, and TNCC are required for certain areas.

Responsibilities

Utilizes the unique knowledge, skills, and competencies required in ambulatory care nursing practice to promote wellness, restore health, address health-related situational problems, and/or support end-of-life care.
Serves as a clinical resource by precepting new hires.
Assesses patients’ needs and applies current ambulatory care nursing knowledge and evidence-based nursing practice when developing an individualized plan of care for each patient.
Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on assigned unit.
Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span, assesses data reflective of the patient’s status, and interprets the information necessary to identify each patient’s requirements relative to age-specific needs.
Prescribes, delegates, coordinates, and documents patient care in a knowledgeable, skillful, and consistent manner. This includes, but is not limited to, patient assessment, education, medication administration, treatments, and patient safety.
Demonstrates competency in nursing skills and use of patient care/unit equipment as defined by unit-specific requisite skills.
Prioritizes patient care in an ongoing manner in accordance with Evidence-Based Practice Standards of Care.
Practices effective problem identification and resolution.
Delegates tasks and duties to healthcare team members in accordance with the patient’s needs and the team member’s capabilities and qualifications.
Communicates appropriate information regarding patient condition or unit concerns to other health care team members.
Maintains a safe and caring environment for both patients and families.
Integrates patient and family education throughout the delivery of care.
Participates in process improvement activities as assigned.
Demonstrates awareness of legal issues, patients’ rights, and compliance with the standards of regulatory and accrediting agencies.
Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Contributes to the knowledge and skills of others and to the continuous improvement of the quality of healthcare practice and organizational outcomes.
Participates in and may lead unit-level and/or organizational-level committees of nursing practice and performance improvement.
Participates in department and organizational peer review, mentoring, and coaching regarding professional practice or role performance.
Practices efficient use of supplies and maintains a clean, safe, and organized unit.
Provides input into staff development needs, hospital and/or nursing committees, nursing research activities, and performance management activities of co-workers and self.
