About The Position

Prepare food items in accordance with production requirements and quality standards while maintaining a safe, sanitary work environment. The role is at The Benson Hotel & Faculty Club, a boutique hotel on the UC Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, Colorado. The position requires open availability, including mornings, weekends, and holidays. Applications are open until 11/25/2026 or until the position is filled.

Requirements

High school education or equivalent experience.
At least one year of food service or related work experience.
Knowledge of cooking and kitchen practices and procedures sufficient to perform non-repetitive analytical work.
Must be available to work mornings, weekends, and holidays.
Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry items weighing up to 70 pounds.
Ability to climb periodically and bend the knees when using the lower oven.
Full range of mobility and ability to travel 30–50 feet regularly throughout the day.
Ability to stand continuously during preparation, service, or expediting.
Ability to hear equipment timers, communicate with staff, see whether products are prepared appropriately, and understand and follow verbal and written instructions.

Responsibilities

Prepare consistently high-quality food according to recipe cards, production and portion standards, and server orders.
Start food items that are prepared ahead of time, avoiding preparation beyond estimated needs.
Date food containers and rotate items according to SOP; keep perishables at proper temperatures.
Check pars for shift use, determine preparation needs, pull items from the freezer, and set up the line.
Note out-of-stock items and possible shortages.
Assist in keeping the buffet stocked.
Return unused food items to designated storage areas for the next shift, covering and dating perishables.
Assist with plans and actions to address food-cost problems, and control food waste, loss, and usage according to SOP.
