About The Position

Prepare food items in accordance with production requirements and quality standards while maintaining a safe and sanitary work environment. This role is at The Benson Hotel & Faculty Club, a boutique hotel located on the UC Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, Colorado. The position requires open availability to work mornings, weekends, and holidays. Applications are open until 11/25/2026 or until the position is filled.

Requirements

High school education or equivalent experience.
At least one year of food service or related work experience.
Knowledge of cooking and kitchen practices and procedures to perform non-repetitive analytical work.
Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry items weighing up to 70 pounds.
Ability to climb periodically and bend at the knees when using the lower oven.
Full range of mobility and ability to travel 30–50 feet regularly throughout the day.
Ability to stand continuously during preparation, service, or expediting.
Ability to hear equipment timers, communicate with staff, and see whether products are prepared appropriately.
Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions and communicate verbally and in writing.
Availability to work mornings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

Prepare food of consistent quality by following recipe cards, production standards, portion standards, and servers’ dupes.
Begin food items prepared ahead of time, avoiding preparation beyond estimated needs.
Date food containers and rotate items according to SOP; keep perishables at proper temperatures.
Check pars for shift use, determine preparation and freezer pulls needed, and set up the line.
Note out-of-stock items and possible shortages.
Assist in keeping the buffet stocked.
Return unused food items to designated storage areas for the next shift, covering and dating perishables.
Assist with plans and actions to correct food-cost problems and control food waste, loss, and usage according to SOP.
