About The Position

The Alternative Products Underwriting Assistant provides technical and operational support to Midwest Employers Casualty’s Underwriting organization, initially focusing on developing internal expertise in Genesys. The role supports policy administration and underwriting activities for alternative products, including Workers’ Compensation, Auto Liability, and General Liability. The initial emphasis is on the growing Captives business, with the opportunity to expand into other alternative products and underwriting activities outside traditional excess workers’ compensation workflows. The position works closely with internal stakeholders to help ensure transactions are processed accurately and on time. The assistant enters and maintains exposure, account, rating, policy, and transaction information in Genesys and related systems; prepares rating outputs, quotes, policy issuance transactions, renewals, extensions, endorsements, and policy changes for appropriate review or processing; and tracks assigned transactions through completion. The role reviews source documents and system records for completeness, consistency, and accuracy, resolves routine processing errors within established procedures, and escalates questions involving risk selection, pricing, coverage, exceptions, policy interpretation, or compliance. The position also maintains underwriting, policy, operational, and compliance documentation; supports audit and regulatory requests; and may assist with proof-of-coverage or filing-related activities when assigned and trained. The assistant builds proficiency in Genesys and assigned policy administration processes, develops procedures and job aids, supports quality control and process improvement, and participates in automation, AI-enabled process, system testing, implementation, workflow improvement, cross-training, and knowledge-transfer efforts.
