Alternate Facility Security Officer - Huntsville AL
About The Position
BAE Systems is seeking an Assistant Facility Security Officer to support the collateral security program at its Aerospace & Mission Systems Business Sector campus in Huntsville, Alabama. The role works with the Facility Security Officer, leadership, and internal and external customers to support a variety of programs in a dynamic, team-based environment. It requires discretion and independent judgment in interpreting and enforcing government and company policies, providing security guidance, and implementing program requirements. The position supports security planning and procedures under 32 CFR Part 117 (NISPOM), collateral DD254 review and compliance, international security requirements, emergency response, facility construction and accreditation, security briefings, investigations, and security reviews. The role also participates in local security, crisis management, leadership, insider threat, and safety groups, and completes required documentation. This is a full-time, 100% onsite position at a BAE Systems facility in Huntsville, Alabama.
Requirements
- Minimum high school diploma.
- Secret clearance required, with ability to obtain a Top Secret security clearance.
- Demonstrated knowledge of 32 CFR Part 117 NISPOM.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks.
- Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment while complying with policies, procedures, principles, and applicable state and federal laws and regulations.
- Motivation and initiative to learn and acquire new skills and adapt to a changing security environment.
- Customer focus, excellent written and verbal communication, and ability to work with limited supervision.
- Ability to manage time, make sound decisions, take independent action, analyze problems, and provide focused solutions.
Nice To Haves

- Active Secret clearance.
- Previous experience with DISS, NISS, and SIMS.
- Facility Security Officer Program Management for Possessing Facilities Certificate via CDSE.
- Insider Threat Program for Industry Curriculum, INT33.CU, provided by CDSE or equivalent training.
Responsibilities
- Interpret and enforce government and internal company policies, and provide direction and guidance to employees.
- Develop and implement security plans and procedures using 32 CFR Part 117 NISPOM and applicable program instruction manuals.
- Understand and implement program security requirements.
- Review, draft, and ensure compliance for collateral DD254s.
- Assist with international requirements, including government-to-government shipments, foreign visitor requirements, and Export Control compliance.
- Provide backup Incident Commander support during emergencies as necessary.
- Assist with facility construction and ongoing accreditation requirements.
- Provide security guidance to company personnel and conduct security briefings as necessary.
- Conduct investigations and interviews concerning non-compliance and security violations.
- Participate in the local Crisis Management Team, Site Leadership Team, Insider Threat Local Counsel, and Safety Committee.
- Complete documentation in accordance with company and government directives.
- Assist with security reviews, including DCSA visits, formal self-inspections, and internal Staff Assistance Visits.
- Perform additional duties and tasks as required.
