About The Position

Performs specific rehabilitation procedures involving direct patient care under the direct supervision of a licensed therapist or therapy assistant. Provides support functions, including maintaining rehabilitation supply inventory throughout inpatient services and performing clerical duties, to help ensure smooth service operations. The role assists with patient care, equipment availability and setup, and administrative tasks. Staff are required to be vaccinated against influenza as a condition of employment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Basic Life Support certificate.
• 0–1 years of related work experience.
• Enrollment in a college-level Physical Therapy program or another health-related field.
• Basic familiarity with computers and ability to navigate web-based applications at a basic level.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in written English.
• Ability to comprehend and converse in English to communicate with medical center staff, patients, families, and external customers.
• Ability to provide patient care to young adults (16–30 years), middle-aged adults (30–60 years), and elderly adults (60 years and older).
• Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently, and to stand and/or move around for the majority of the shift.

Responsibilities

• Assist therapists with direct patient care as needed, including turning, positioning, transferring, or ambulating select patients.
• Order Durable Medical Equipment (DME) from vendors.
• Perform routine clerical and administrative tasks as directed, using computers, copiers, fax machines, and telephones.
• Regularly sweep patient areas to locate rehabilitation equipment, including DME, adaptive call bells, and Roho cushions, and return it to the proper location.
• Set up and break down equipment as directed for treatment sessions.
• Ensure equipment is clean for patients and staff.
• Remain available by pager to therapists and therapy assistants and provide requested equipment at the bedside.
