Allergy Technician/ Medical Assistant
About The Position
Scotch Institute of Ear Nose & Throat, a division of ENT and Allergy Associates of FL, is seeking a Nurse or Medical Assistant to work as an Allergy Technician at its Trinity and Wesley Chapel offices. The position may be part-time, with full-time considered for the right candidate. The practice provides general and subspecialty ENT medical and surgical care, including diagnosis and rehabilitative services. This is an opportunity for an experienced, motivated, self-starting, multitask-oriented Medical Assistant who can handle a high volume of patients and is willing to learn all aspects of allergy care in an ENT environment. The role involves patient interaction, allergy testing and treatment support, clinical procedures, administrative work, and travel between offices as needed.
Requirements
- At least one year of hands-on clinical experience.
- Willingness to travel between locations as needed.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and a clear speaking voice.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Professional conduct toward patients, physicians, and team members.
- Computer literacy for EMR use.
Nice To Haves
- Bilingual Spanish-speaking ability.
- Allergy experience.
Responsibilities
- Interact with patients for 10–60 minutes.
- Follow allergy protocols.
- Educate patients about allergy testing and treatments.
- Answer patient calls.
- Take patient histories.
- Give injections.
- Perform allergy skin tests.
- Obtain authorizations.
- Prepare examination rooms.
- Follow sterilization techniques in accordance with CDC, ENTAAF, and, if applicable, autoclave manufacturer requirements.
- Travel between the Trinity and Wesley Chapel offices for support purposes as needed.
- Assist patients with transferring from a wheelchair to an examination chair when necessary.
