About The Position

KGOU public radio is seeking an engaging announcer with a conversational on-air sound to host the afternoon All Things Considered program for listeners in the Oklahoma City metro area. The ideal candidate will possess sharp news instincts and strong storytelling skills, capable of producing news stories for ATC, filing national news spots, and filling in on other host shifts as needed.

Requirements

  • Must be currently enrolled in the Fall 2026 Term as an undergraduate student in good standing at the University of Oklahoma.
  • Hiring contingent upon verification of current student status.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism, communications, political science or other appropriate field or near completion of degree requirements.
  • One year of experience in broadcasting, or some equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong writing skills and knowledge of AP style.
  • On-air announcing experience.
  • Experience with web posting, broadcast and audio editing software and equipment.
  • Time management and organization skills, including reliability and punctuality.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Host the All Things Considered program.
