About The Position

ACTS Airport Services is hiring full-time Aviation Security Officers at Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport. The listed 1st-shift hours are 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with eight-hour shifts. The current wage rate is $20.00 per hour. Officers help secure airport areas and support passenger safety and customer service. Duties may include controlling access to restricted and secured areas, screening people and vehicles, monitoring airport exit lanes, providing security escorts for construction, responding to incidents and emergencies, and assisting passengers. Officers also prepare incident or occurrence reports, report safety and security concerns, handle security issues appropriately, and participate in airport and industry security and safety training. Candidates must meet applicable licensing and permit requirements and pass the required TSA security threat assessment and criminal history check. Pre-employment screening may include a drug screen, criminal check, and airport fingerprinting.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
At least two years of verifiable previous contract security, military, or law enforcement experience.
At least 21 years of age.
Proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
Ability to pass a Transportation Security Administration Security Threat Assessment and Criminal History Record Check.
Ability to meet and maintain applicable state, county, and municipal licensing and permit requirements for Aviation Security Officers.
Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English, including the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing for public interaction and report writing.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to maintain regular attendance and avoid unpredictable, frequent, or ongoing tardiness.
Ability to handle typical and crisis situations efficiently and effectively at the client site.
Physical ability to stand or walk for an entire shift and lift a 25-pound fire extinguisher.
Candidates must complete pre-employment screening, which may include a drug screen, criminal check, and airport fingerprinting.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

Control access to restricted airport areas and allow entry only to authorized individuals.
Screen and log people and vehicles accessing restricted areas.
Control access and inspect vehicles at perimeter access points to secured airport areas and at vulnerable entries into non-secure areas.
Screen employees, vendors, visitors, and belongings using X-ray machines, hand wands, and/or magnetometers.
Manage access at employee checkpoints.
Monitor and secure exit lanes from the airport sterile area to the public area.
Provide escorts and security for construction of runways, taxiways, terminals, and concourses.
Respond to incidents and emergencies and handle security issues appropriately.
Provide passenger assistance and quality customer service.
Prepare incident or occurrence reports for events involving customer complaints or concerns, safety or security, or operational issues.
Report safety concerns, security breaches, and unusual circumstances verbally and in writing.
Participate in security and safety training programs.
Follow the airport-specific operations performance manual and post orders.
