About The Position

Leads and participates in enforcing laws on airport property and in providing for safety for the public and airport operations.

Requirements

  • Completion of a high school diploma or the equivalent with an additional three to five years of responsible experience as a law enforcement officer
  • Certified Peace Officer
  • Texas Driver's License
  • Knowledge of the principles of modern police administration
  • Knowledge of accepted practices and procedures of police science
  • Knowledge of Aviation Department, City, federal, and state laws, policies, and procedures
  • Ability to instruct and advise subordinates in all pertinent phases of law enforcement and FAA security procedures
  • Ability to plan, assign, and coordinate the work of a number of subordinate officers
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective public relations
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others
  • Ability to provide general automotive assistance to stranded motorists
  • Ability to receive orders from superiors and give direction to subordinate officers
  • Ability to review and approve reports

Responsibilities

  • Maintain contact with officers to provide advice or assistance, and to respond to more difficult situations
  • Supervise recordkeeping by officers and forward reports through the chain of command
  • Assist Airport Police Lieutenant in compiling data and statistics on police operations
  • Project a positive role model and utilize leadership skills in dealing with officers
  • Serve as first-line supervisor in the chain of command
  • Receive orders from superiors and provide direction to subordinate officers
  • Review and approve reports in the absence of the Airport Police Lieutenant, or as needed
  • Submit reports through the chain of command for final approval
  • Approve days off requested by officers
  • Perform evaluations of officers' performance and initiate disciplinary action for violations of department, city, state, or federal policies or laws
  • Resolve complaints from the public or from officers in a professional manner
  • Perform related duties as required
