About The Position

The City and County of Denver is seeking a talented Passenger Loading Bridge Jet Bridge Technician II to perform Senior Mechanical/Carpentry maintenance and repairs on over 170 Jet bridges and ground support equipment. This role also involves mentoring and coaching entry-level technicians. The team handles a range of issues from daily preventative maintenance to emergency response and repairs in various environments. Denver International Airport (DEN) is a 24/7/365 operation and a significant economic engine for Colorado.

Requirements

  • Mechanical/Carpentry background, with experience in troubleshooting, repairing mechanical equipment, components, and instruments, including installation, testing, repair, and maintenance of ground power units (GPUs), pre-conditioned air (PCA) units, and related airport systems.
  • Knowledge of Electrical theory, welding, hydraulics, components, and material properties.
  • Advance understanding of mechanical systems, bearings, gears, chains, and lubrication.
  • Understanding of safety hazards and necessary safety precautions to establish a safe work environment.
  • Professional and positive demeanor, especially when working around airline personnel, airport operations staff, and stakeholders.
  • Experience mentoring and developing Jet bridge technicians, fostering a collaborative and skilled work environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret bridge schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals related to jet bridge systems.
  • At least 2 years of experience in bridge, PCA, and GPU Mechanical/ Carpentry maintenance.
  • Experience in aviation with a focus on passenger loading bridge operations.
  • Graduation from high school or possession of a GED, HiSET, or TASC Certificate.
  • Three (3) years of experience in mechanical maintenance, industrial equipment, aviation ground support systems, or a related field, including significant experience with repair, installation of ground service equipment, and advanced troubleshooting.
  • Requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application.
  • Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment.
  • FBI criminal background check is required.
  • Must have valid work authorization that does not require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the U.S.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in two (2) of the following technical areas: Welding Certificate, EPA Universal Certificate (EPA 608), Basic Electricity for Non-Electricians, Mechanical Fundamentals and Troubleshooting, Jet Bridge and/or Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Maintenance and Troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

  • Independently performs maintenance, alteration, and repair of passenger boarding bridges, ground power units, and pre-conditioned air units in accordance with standard practices of the passenger loading bridge department and the FAA.
  • Coordinates, trains, and independently installs new passenger boarding bridge, PC-Air, and ground power equipment components.
  • Responds to Mechanical/Carpentry service or trouble calls, troubleshoots various problems/issues, and provides problem resolution.
  • Prepares working sketches and works from blueprints, schematics, and written or verbal instructions.
  • Estimates materials, labor, and equipment costs.
  • Maintains records and prepares daily activity reports.
  • Adheres to all airports, FAA, OSHA, and company safety and environmental standards.
  • Collaborate with other airport maintenance staff, airline operations, and airline personnel to minimize downtime and operational disruptions.
  • Participate in airport safety training, drills, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Participates in snow removal duties.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
