About The Position

Aviation Technology Associates (AVTECH Global) is looking for an Aircraft Tech. This is a full-time, contract position with a duration of 12 months, offering the opportunity for extension and potential direct hire after ninety (90) days. The role involves performing or assisting with inspections, maintenance, and repairs on aircraft systems and structures, with varying levels of supervision and complexity depending on the technician level (Level I, Level II, or Level IV/Sr). Responsibilities include communication, performing inspections and repairs, aircraft movement, documentation, ensuring quality standards, property identification and storage, operating ground support equipment, waste disposal, applying 6S and Lean Initiatives, tool maintenance, and complying with safety procedures. Higher levels involve more complex tasks, minimal supervision, coordination with other departments, training, and providing work direction.

Requirements

  • High School diploma/GED.
  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant certificate or two (2) years of aviation maintenance experience.
  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant certificate and four (4) years aviation maintenance experience to include three (3) years of experience working on mid/large size aircraft (for Level IV/Sr).
  • Valid driver's license may be required.
  • Participation in a DOT/FAA drug and alcohol program may be required.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Working knowledge of the FAA regulations, process specifications, Repair Station and Quality Control manuals, and company policies and procedures (for Level IV/Sr).

Responsibilities

  • Perform or assist with inspections, maintenance, and repairs on aircraft systems and structures.
  • Communicate to receive and understand work assignments.
  • Perform basic aircraft inspections, repairs, and modifications under close supervision (Level I).
  • Assist with movement of aircraft as required.
  • Properly complete CMP cards, work order sign-offs, and other paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that all work accomplished meets quality standards and specifications.
  • Properly identify (tag) customer property and equipment.
  • Store aircraft components and other customer property securely and safely.
  • Follow standard operating procedures when operating ground support equipment (external power carts, hydraulic power units, hydraulic lift platforms, forklifts, compressed gas cylinders, etc.).
  • Ensure all customer property is properly protected.
  • Use material tracking system to create parts demand, and to charge labor to Work Orders, items, and squawks.
  • Properly collect and dispose of waste fuel, oil, hydraulic and de-icing fluids, and solvent rags.
  • Apply 6S and Lean Initiatives to keep shops, hangars, and aircraft work areas clean and uncluttered.
  • Properly use and maintain company-provided tools and equipment.
  • Return items to designated storage area after use.
  • Comply with safety rules and procedures.
  • Use protective equipment as required and be alert for unsafe conditions.
  • Address and report unsafe conditions before putting people or property at risk.
  • In support of aircraft certification and final phase testing, may include flight tests on aircraft as required.
  • Perform complex aircraft inspections, repairs, and modifications with minimal supervision (Level II).
  • Coordinate with MTL, STM, and the Inspection Department to ensure compliance with internal and FAA inspection and documentation requirements (Level II).
  • Assist as needed with shift turnovers (Level II).
  • Provide training to less experienced technicians (Level II).
  • Independently perform a variety of aircraft modifications and maintenance functions such as removal and installations of airframes, landing gear, engine components, electrical components, and control systems to assure conformance to procedures, performances and test specifications (Level IV/Sr).
  • Perform required periodic maintenance and necessary servicing of all aircraft mechanical systems (Level IV/Sr).
  • Must demonstrate the ability to consistently perform assigned maintenance task within the quoted or standard CMP time (Level IV/Sr).
  • Provide work direction for assigned technicians (Level IV/Sr).
  • Promote high standards of quality through instruction and by example setting (Level IV/Sr).
  • Act on behalf of Mechanical Team Lead (MTL) in his/her absence and assume the duties and responsibilities of the MTL when assigned (Level IV/Sr).
  • Assist in training new employees concerning computerized maintenance program (CMP) maintenance manuals, SRMs illustrated parts catalog (IPC) usage, flight test installations, and all maintenance of major components (Level IV/Sr).
  • Coordinate with other departments to arrange for the overhaul or repair of customer property as needed (Level IV/Sr).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
