About The Position

This role involves the successful completion of formal training programs, mentorship, and assessments to become a certified Aircraft Structures technician. The apprentice will gain working knowledge of aircraft construction and repair principles, develop fine motor skills, manual dexterity, and attention to detail. Key aspects include problem-solving, reliability in training, ability to follow directions and interpret diagrams, a desire to learn the trade, adherence to safe work procedures, and precise manipulation of hand tools.

Requirements

• Working knowledge of aircraft construction and repair principles
• Demonstrates fine motor skills, manual dexterity & attention to detail
• Demonstrates problem solving and creative thinking skills
• Demonstrates reliability & dependability in completion of formal classroom training modules
• Demonstrates ability to follow written & verbal directions, to interpret diagrams, and to correct errors
• Demonstrates desire to learn trade of Aircraft Structures repair
• Demonstrates ability & willingness to practice safe work procedures
• Demonstrates ability to precisely manipulate hand tools in a variety of situations

Nice To Haves

• Previous work experience in a maintenance or skilled trade environment
• Previous experience interpreting diagrams and technical documentation or directions
• Previous experience using hand tools
• Prior hands-on experience in a heavy maintenance environment
• Prior experience at a FAR Part 145 repair station

Responsibilities

• Successful completion of AMES 24 weeks of formal Aircraft Structures Trainee classroom program & mentorship assignment.
• Recommendation for promotion from the assigned Mentor & department Supervisor.
• Recommendation from Training management for issuance of an FAA Repairman Certificate.
• Successful completion of the presented Structures Assessment Project as administered by Heavy Maintenance.
