About The Position

The Sheet Metal/Structures Mechanic is responsible for the service, repair, and overhaul of aircraft to ensure airworthiness. Works under minimal supervision. This role requires intermediate knowledge of all areas of the aircraft and assigned work area, including repairing, modifying, and replacing aircraft components. The mechanic will develop repair schemes using SRM or Engineering data, conduct operational tests, and communicate effectively with maintenance personnel. Responsibilities include reading and interpreting maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and drawings to determine repair methods, and accurately clocking to jobs. Specific sheet metal duties involve repairing, replacing, and rebuilding aircraft component structures, repairing flight control surfaces, utilizing special installation tools, modifying aircraft structure using OEM and Engineering drawings, completing specialized tasks like flap peening and cold working, and fabricating repair parts using shop tooling.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum two years of related commercial/military aircraft maintenance experience.
  • Possess basic computer skills

Nice To Haves

  • Airframe or Airframe and Powerplant License preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Repair, modify, replace, or otherwise perform routine aircraft maintenance work in specialized areas of aircraft.
  • Develop repair schemes utilizing SRM or Engineering data.
  • Conduct operational tests.
  • Communicate effectively with other maintenance personnel at all levels by keeping co-workers and leadership apprised of work progress and difficulties as they arise.
  • Complete job assignments in a timely manner.
  • Read and interpret manufacturer and airline maintenance manuals, service bulletins, drawings, and other specifications to determine the feasibility and method of repair, replacement, or modification.
  • Accurately clocking to jobs.
  • Repair, replace, and rebuild A/C component structures.
  • Repair & modify flight control surfaces and components.
  • Utilize special installation tools, such as blind rivet guns, etc.
  • Utilize OEM and Engineering drawings to modify aircraft structure.
  • Complete specialized tasks, such as flap peening, cold working, etc.
  • Fabricate repair parts using special shop tooling, such as brakes, stretchers, etc.
