The CBP Aircraft Quality Assurance Inspector is responsible for ensuring that assigned aircraft are maintained within required specifications of 14 CFR Parts 43, 91 and 125 and other FAA and DOD regulations, OEM instructions and CBP directives as required and are airworthy before operation. This role involves inspecting the work of Aircraft Mechanics, applying technical knowledge to ensure proper equipment installation and operation, and solving complex problems by interpreting technical documentation. The inspector will make entries in aircraft logs and records, provide guidance to technicians, and perform various quality and safety inspections. They will also coordinate with customer representatives, monitor maintenance programs, and assist in developing standard operating procedures and safety plans. Basic computer skills are necessary for accessing technical references and training requirements. Maintenance documentation must be completed according to Quality Assurance (QA) and regulatory requirements, and timekeeping procedures must be followed. A high state of cleanliness and a clean-as-you-go process are expected. The role also includes performing Foreign Object Damage (FOD) walk-downs, maintaining situational awareness, and complying with DHS/DOD documents and publications. Tool control, inventory, and maintenance are critical, as is the proper handling of hazardous materials. Safety rules and procedures must be followed, and any accidents or unsafe practices reported promptly. Weekly break room and smoking area cleaning duties are also part of the role, along with other assigned duties.
