About The Position

Aviation Technology Associates (AVTECH Global) is seeking an Aircraft Placard & Part Making Tech. This full-time, contract position has a duration of 12 months with the potential for extension. The role involves creating and producing placards, identification plates, vinyl spray painting masks, and performing wire stamping. The technician may also assist engineering by defining placard specifications and creating graphics and descriptions for engineering documentation. The position requires adherence to standard operating procedures, safety policies, and housekeeping standards, as well as adaptability to changing schedules and priorities. There is an opportunity to contribute to process improvements using lean Six Sigma techniques and to assist in managing department inventory and aircraft schedules.

Requirements

  • High School diploma/GED.
  • One (1) to four (4) years of experience with reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications specific to producing placards, ID plates, spray masks, and wire stamping.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Working knowledge of policies and procedures manual, inspection procedures manual, and pertinent process specifications.

  • Participation in a DOT/FAA drug and alcohol program may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Create and produce placards, identification plates, and vinyl spray painting masks.
  • Perform wire stamping.
  • May include final placard installation.
  • Assist engineering in defining placard specifications and creating graphics and descriptions.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications to determine proper color, font, dimension, and materials for placards and identification plates.
  • Use Adobe Illustrator, PDF files, and Gerber Omega software to draw, layout, and produce aircraft placards.
  • Use sign cutting equipment to produce masking for exterior paint application on aircraft.
  • Produce placards requiring foreign languages for foreign aircraft registration.
  • Maintain proper documentation of all work, including material traceability for compliance with inspection and FAA requirements.
  • Use precision tools to verify fabricated placards and identification plates meet engineering requirements.
  • Perform daily maintenance on equipment.
  • Comply with standard operating procedures, safety, and housekeeping policies.
  • Adapt to sudden changes in schedule and priorities.
  • Contribute to developing and implementing process improvements using lean Six Sigma and other techniques.
  • Monitor and maintain department materials inventory.
  • Monitor aircraft schedules to support materials requirements.
  • Assist and train lower-level technicians (Level IV).
