The Aircraft Upholstery Tech will be responsible for fabricating, installing, and/or designing upholstery, cover panels, and making simple patterns for aircraft interiors using design/engineering drawings and aircraft specifications. This role involves performing technical upholstery functions in compliance with design, customer, FAA, and aircraft specifications, as well as work order instructions. Tasks include fitting panels and windows, cabin headliners, upper sidewalls, lower side panels, hatch panels, cutting and surging carpets, covering bulkheads, fabricating metal parts, and covering/installing panels. The technician will also create carpet patterns per design drawings, complete installations, and use a material tracking system (Corridor) for parts demand, squawk tracking, and work sign-offs. Higher levels may involve sewing covers, working with various materials (fabric, vinyl, leather, composites), implementing process improvements using Lean Manufacturing and Lean Six-Sigma tools, accepting lead responsibilities, conducting safety audits, mentoring junior technicians, and advanced knowledge of upholstery and carpet installation.
