About The Position

Aviation Technology Associates (AVTECH Global) is seeking an Aircraft Placard & Part Making Tech. This full-time contract position is for 12 months with the possibility of extension and offers the opportunity to become a direct hire after ninety days. The role involves creating and producing various aircraft components such as placards, identification plates, and vinyl spray painting masks, as well as performing wire stamping and potentially final placard installation. The technician will also assist engineering by defining placard specifications and creating graphics and descriptions for use in engineering documents.

Requirements

  • High School diploma/GED.
  • One (1) year to four (4) years of experience with reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications that are specific to producing placards, ID plates, spray masks and wire stamping.
  • Valid driver's license may be required.
  • Participation in a DOT/FAA drug and alcohol program may be required.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Possess a working knowledge of policies and procedures manual, inspection procedures manual, and pertinent process specifications.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Adobe Illustrator, PDF files and Gerber Omega software.
  • Experience with sign cutting equipment.
  • Experience with programmable Gerber or other foil printers.
  • Experience with programmable sign cutting equipment, programmable engravers.
  • Experience with wire stamper, Inkjet printer.
  • Experience with Lean Six Sigma and other process improvement techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Create and produce placards, identification plates, & vinyl spray painting masks.
  • Perform wire stamping.
  • May include final placard installation.
  • Assist engineering in defining placard specifications and by creating graphics and descriptions that engineering can directly use in the engineering placard specification documents.
  • Read and interpret completions customer specifications and engineering drawings / specifications to determine the proper color, font, dimension, and materials required to create and install aircraft placards or identification plates, and to create spray masking, as well as perform wire stamping.
  • Use Adobe Illustrator, PDF files and Gerber Omega software to accurately draw, layout, and produce aircraft placards.
  • Use sign cutting equipment to produce masking per exterior markings drawings requirements for exterior paint application on aircraft.
  • Produce placards that require foreign languages to meet foreign aircraft registration requirements.
  • Maintain proper documentation of all work to include traceability of materials used during manufacturing to ensure compliance with all inspection and FAA requirements.
  • Use precision tools to verify fabricated placards and identification plates meet all engineering requirements which may include installation.
  • Performs daily maintenance on equipment used.
  • Complies with all standard operating procedures as well as safety and housekeeping policies.
  • Adapts to sudden changes in schedule and priorities.
  • Contributes to developing and implementing process improvements that improve safety and reduce cost using lean Six Sigma and other process improvement techniques.
  • Monitors and maintains department materials inventory.
  • Monitors aircraft schedules to support materials requirement.
  • Assists and trains lower-level technicians.
  • Coordinates operations and support with outside departments to include off site departments as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
