About The Position

Under direct supervision, the Aircraft Placard & Part Making Tech I is responsible for creating and producing placards, identification plates, vinyl spray painting masks, and performing wire stamping, which may include final placard installation. This role requires the ability to read and interpret Completions customer specifications and engineering drawings to determine the proper color, font, dimension, and materials. The technician will utilize software such as Adobe Illustrator, PDF files, and Gerber Omega for drawing, layout, and production, and operate sign cutting equipment for masking. Key duties also include producing foreign language placards, maintaining meticulous documentation for FAA compliance, and using precision tools for verification. The position involves operating various programmable equipment, performing daily maintenance, adhering to standard operating procedures, adapting to schedule changes, contributing to process improvements, and managing department material inventory to support aircraft schedules.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications that are specific to producing placards, ID plates, spray masks and wire stamping.
  • 1 year computer experience required.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Participation in a DOT/FAA drug and alcohol program is required.

  • Graphic design experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret Completions customer specifications and engineering drawings / specifications to determine the proper color, font, dimension, and materials required to create and install aircraft placards or identification plates, and to create spray masking, as well as perform wire stamping.
  • Use Adobe Illustrator, pdf files and Gerber Omega software to accurately draw, layout, and produce aircraft placards.
  • Use sign cutting equipment to produce masking per Exterior Markings Drawings requirements for exterior paint application on aircraft.
  • Produce placards that require foreign languages to meet foreign aircraft registration requirements.
  • Maintain proper documentation of all work to include traceability of materials used during manufacturing to ensure compliance with all inspection and FAA requirements.
  • Use precision tools to verify fabricated placards and identification plates meet all engineering requirements which may include installation.
  • Operate Programmable Gerber or other foil printer.
  • Operate Programmable sign cutting equipment.
  • Operate Programmable engraver.
  • Operate Miscellaneous equipment: Wire stamper, Inkjet printer, etc.
  • Perform daily maintenance on equipment used.
  • Comply with all standard operating procedures as well as safety and housekeeping policies.
  • Adapt to sudden changes in schedule and priorities.
  • Contribute to developing and implementing process improvements that improve safety and reduce cost using Lean Six Sigma and other process improvement techniques.
  • Monitor and maintain department materials inventory.
  • Monitor aircraft schedules to support materials requirement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Possess a working knowledge of policies and procedures manual, inspection procedures manual, and pertinent process specifications.
  • Be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
