About The Position

Under moderate supervision, the Upholstery Tech I will fabricate and install upholstery, cover panels, and make simple patterns for aircraft interiors using design/engineering drawings and aircraft specifications. This role involves performing technical upholstery functions within design, customer, FAA, and aircraft specifications. Specific installation and trim tasks are to be completed in compliance with work order instructions and specifications. Responsibilities include fitting panels and windows, cabin head liners, upper sidewalls, lower side panels, hatch panels, windows, cutting and surging carpets, covering bulkheads, fabricating various metal parts, and covering and installation of panels. The technician will also create carpet patterns per design drawings and complete installation, and use the material tracking system to create parts demand, track squawks, and sign-off work. Other duties as required will also be performed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Entry level position
  • Valid driver's license is required
  • Participation in a DOT/FAA drug and alcohol program is required
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand proficiently the English language
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering documentation
  • Ability to use measuring tools and perform basic math computations
  • Must be computer literate
  • Able to climb ladders and stairs
  • Able to work in small restricted areas
  • Able to lift up to 40 pounds
  • Able to work any shift

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using commercial sewing machines, sergers and/or various hand tools used in upholstery and carpet trades
