About The Position

AVTECH Global is seeking an Upholstery Tech I in Savannah, GA. This is an entry-level, full-time contract position with a duration of 12 months, with potential for extension and opportunity to become a direct hire after ninety days. The role involves fabricating and installing upholstery, covering panels, and creating simple patterns for aircraft interiors. The work must adhere to design/engineering drawings, aircraft specifications, and customer and FAA requirements. Key responsibilities include performing technical upholstery functions, completing specific installation and trim tasks, fitting various panels and windows, cutting and surging carpets, covering bulkheads, fabricating metal parts, and utilizing a material tracking system for parts demand, squawk tracking, and work sign-off.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Valid driver's license is required.
  • Participation in a DOT/FAA drug and alcohol program is required.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand proficiently the English language.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering documentation.
  • Ability to use measuring tools and perform basic math computations.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Able to climb ladders and stairs.
  • Able to work in small restricted areas.
  • Able to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Able to work any shift.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using commercial sewing machines, sergers and/or various hand tools used in upholstery and carpet trades.

Responsibilities

  • Perform technical upholstery functions within design, customer, FAA, and aircraft specifications.
  • Complete specific installation and trim tasks in compliance with work order instructions and specifications.
  • Fit panels and windows, cabin head liners, upper sidewalls, lower side panels, hatch panels, windows.
  • Cut and surge carpets.
  • Cover bulkheads.
  • Fabricate various metal parts.
  • Cover and install panels.
  • Create carpet patterns per design drawings and complete installation.
  • Use the material tracking system to create parts demand, track squawks and to sign-off work.
  • Performs other duties as required.
