Aircraft Overhaul Leader

Headquarters, Air Force Reserve Command•Hill AFB, UT

About The Position

This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) enlisted position in the regular career civil service. The incumbent must maintain active membership in the assigned Air Force Reserve unit and meet and maintain Air Force Reserve requirements. The work schedule is aligned to allow participation in unit training assemblies, with approximately one weekend of military training per month. Regular assignments are primarily ART duties, though non-ART duties may be assigned and generally will not exceed 30 percent of total responsibilities. The position serves as a work leader and Dedicated Crew Chief over a crew of three or more aircraft workers or mechanics. The incumbent coordinates and oversees maintenance and scheduled inspections on assigned aircraft, including troubleshooting, positioning, appearance, and servicing. The employee checks aircraft functional and support systems, assesses pilot comments, operates engines, and may operate aircraft systems. The work leader directs crew members and checks work in progress and upon completion to ensure required quality standards, procedures, and sequences are followed. The incumbent follows federal, state, and local requirements for storing, using, handling, labeling, and disposing of hazardous materials and waste. The position also provides on-the-job training to less-experienced aircraft workers and workers in related trades on maintenance practices, new or modified systems and components, and safety procedures. The employee must pass initial and periodic short-notice drug testing as this is a Testing Designated Position under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program.
