About The Position

The Sheet Metal/Structures Mechanic is responsible for the service, repair, and overhaul of aircraft to ensure airworthiness. Works under minimal supervision. This role requires intermediate knowledge of all areas of the aircraft and assigned work area. The mechanic will repair, modify, replace, or otherwise perform routine aircraft maintenance work in specialized areas of aircraft, develop repair schemes utilizing SRM or Engineering data, and conduct operational tests. Effective communication with other maintenance personnel at all levels is crucial, as is completing job assignments in a timely manner. The role involves reading and interpreting manufacturer and airline maintenance manuals, service bulletins, drawings, and other specifications to determine the feasibility and method of repair, replacement, or modification. Accurate clocking to jobs is also a responsibility. Specific structures duties include heavy interior modifications, cabin reconfiguration, efficient removal and reinstallation of monuments, and proficiency with precision locating and installation of monument hard points on floor structures. The mechanic will also repair, replace, and rebuild A/C component structures, repair and modify flight control surfaces and components, utilize special installation tools, and fabricate repair parts using special shop tooling.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum two years of related commercial/military aircraft maintenance experience.
  • Possess basic computer skills

Nice To Haves

  • Airframe or Airframe and Powerplant License preferred.
  • Airbus water/waste interface familiarity

Responsibilities

  • Repair, modify, replace, or otherwise perform routine aircraft maintenance work in specialized areas of aircraft.
  • Develop repair schemes utilizing SRM or Engineering data.
  • Conduct operational tests.
  • Communicate effectively with other maintenance personnel at all levels by keeping co-workers and leadership apprised of work progress and difficulties as they arise.
  • Complete job assignments in a timely manner.
  • Read and interpret manufacturer and airline maintenance manuals, service bulletins, drawings, and other specifications to determine the feasibility and method of repair, replacement, or modification.
  • Accurately clocking to jobs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Heavy Interior modifications experience – cabin reconfiguration experience
  • Ability to remove and reinstall monuments efficiently and without rework
  • Proficient with precision locating and installation of monument hard points on floor structures
  • Repair, replace, and rebuild A/C component structures
  • Repair & modify flight control surfaces and components
  • Utilize special installation tools, such as blind rivet guns, etc.
  • Utilize OEM and Engineering drawings to modify aircraft structure
  • Complete specialized tasks, such as flap peening, cold working, etc.
  • Fabricate repair parts using special shop tooling, such as brakes, stretchers, etc.
