About The Position

The Aircraft Mechanic III is responsible for support of highly sensitive HQ USAF operational plans and safe air transportation for Cabinet Members, senior military leaders, and visiting foreign dignitaries. This role performs scheduled and unscheduled aircraft maintenance, including repairs, modifications of aircraft structures, structural components, and engines of complex to extreme difficulty. The mechanic will maintain and repair aircraft components such as flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components. They will apply technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems to diagnose equipment malfunctions and interpret technical data like blueprints and manufacturer manuals to solve complex problems. The position requires a thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting and repair procedures, replacement of components, aircraft sheet metal/structural modification and repair, and the ability to determine the functionality of complex electrical systems. The role also involves accomplishing various inspections (preflight, thru-flight, basic post-flight, phase), launching and recovering aircraft, performing operational checks of all aircraft systems, maintaining aircraft appearance and cleanliness, operating ground support equipment, and performing ground movement of aircraft. Maintenance actions must be accurately annotated in aircraft records and IMDS entries completed. The mechanic must practice good housekeeping, tool control, FOD awareness, and safety. This role may require travel (TDY) and performing other duties related to the occupational field. The position requires the ability to work day shift, second shift, night shift, and/or weekend shifts as needed. Additionally, the mechanic must become proficient in three classifications (aircraft general, jet engines, and pneudraulics) through Cross Utilization Training (CUT).

Requirements

A Minimum of a High School Diploma or a GED required.
Knowledge of the use of aircraft hand tools, special tools, and test equipment is required.
Must have a working knowledge of aircraft safety requirements and know how to operate portable firefighting equipment.
The ability to read, interpret, and comprehend schematic diagrams, drawings, charts, and technical publications are required.
Must possess an FAA A&P certificate.
Occasional lifting of objects weighing up to 50 pounds is required.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
US Citizenship is required to obtain the clearance.
Must be able to obtain & maintain a flightline driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

Three years’ working knowledge of aircraft maintenance operations is preferred.

Responsibilities

Applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies technical expertise and guidance to solve complex problems by interpreting technical data such as; blue prints and manufactures manuals.
Accomplishes inspections including, but not limited to preflight, thru-flight, basic post-flight, and phase inspections.
Launches and recovers aircraft as required.
Performs operational checks of all aircraft systems and maintains aircraft appearance and cleanliness.
Operates all associated ground support equipment and uses hand tools, special tools, and fixtures applicable to aircraft.
Performs all tasks associated with ground movement of aircraft.
Annotates maintenance actions in aircraft records/forms and completes associated IMDS entries.
Practices good housekeeping, tool control, FOD awareness and prevention and safety at all times.
Performs other duties related to the occupational field as assigned to include TDY and travel.
Become proficient to perform maintenance in three classifications (aircraft general, jet engines, and pneudraulics) through Cross Utilization Training (CUT).
