The Lead Aircraft Mechanic II (Fuel Cell) is responsible for support of highly sensitive HQ USAF operational plans and safe air transportation for Cabinet Members, senior military leaders, and visiting foreign dignitaries. Performs primary duties, monitors status, and appoints others to complete scheduled and unscheduled aircraft/equipment maintenance and provides technical direction to personnel in the completion of task/duties. Plans and coordinates workloads with production supervisor and dispatch personnel accordingly. Completes any required reports or paperwork due to leadership. Briefs leadership on inspections, maintenance, and general shop status. Provides guidance and instruction to all employees assigned concerning technical orders, checklist, and hazardous materials. Assists assigned personnel in research, requisition of aircraft/equipment parts, special tools, components and determine reparability and serviceability. Will ensure aircraft/equipment cleanliness appearance and ensure compliance with all safety, housekeeping, tool control, and FOD prevention programs. Assists in the research and answering of Contractor Officer Representative (COR) and Quality Assurance (QA) reports. Monitors quality assurance reports and prevent the development of adverse trends. Ensures that all maintenance data is correctly entered in forms and MIS. Ensures assigned personnel have access to and use technical data during all phases of aircraft/equipment maintenance/inspections. Notifies assigned employees of training and certification due dates. Maintains supply discipline in the work center. Monitors distribution, control, and condition of assigned vehicles. Monitors shop equipment for condition and documentation. Work may be reviewed by supervisor for general compliance with accepted practices.
