The Aircraft Mechanic II is responsible for supporting highly sensitive HQ USAF operational plans and ensuring safe air transportation for Cabinet Members, senior military leaders, and visiting foreign dignitaries. This role involves performing scheduled and unscheduled aircraft maintenance, including repairs and modifications to aircraft structures and components such as flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components. The mechanic applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems to troubleshoot malfunctions and solve complex problems using technical documentation. Key duties also include various inspections (preflight, thru-flight, basic post-flight, phase), assisting aircrew, launching and recovering aircraft, performing operational checks, maintaining aircraft appearance, operating ground support equipment, and managing aircraft ground movement. The position requires meticulous record-keeping in aircraft forms and the Maintenance Information System (MIS), adherence to good housekeeping, tool control, Foreign Object Damage prevention, and safety protocols. Additional duties may include temporary duty and travel.
