The Aircraft Mechanic II is responsible for support of highly sensitive HQ USAF operational plans and safe air transportation for Cabinet Members, senior military leaders, and visiting foreign dignitaries. This role involves performing scheduled and unscheduled aircraft maintenance, including repairs and modifications to aircraft structures and components such as flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components. The mechanic applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems to diagnose equipment malfunctions and uses comprehensive technical expertise to solve complex problems by interpreting technical documentation like blueprints and manufacturer manuals. The work requires a thorough understanding of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures, component replacement, aircraft sheet metal/structural modification and repair, and the ability to determine the functionality of complex electrical systems.
