The mechanic performs operator maintenance on tools, special tools, and aircraft ground support equipment; prepares aircraft-maintenance forms and records; removes and disassembles defective aircraft parts; maintains supplies; and performs preventive maintenance. Additional maintenance duties may be assigned. The role follows company policies and safety programs, with an emphasis on safety. The incumbent receives technical guidance from a supervisor or higher-level technician as needed, may occasionally lead teams through more complex aircraft-related tasks, and may make entries in aircraft logs and records. The position requires the ability to work in a maintenance shop or outdoors, potentially in austere and all-weather conditions. Work environments may be drafty, noisy, dirty, and expose the mechanic to extreme equipment noise, electrical-shock hazards, or moving mechanical parts and vehicles.
